PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

Introduction Bipolar and Mood Disorders involve significant shifts in mood, energy, and activity levels. These disorders can disrupt daily functioning and relationships. At Rushh Wellness Care, we provide comprehensive care to help stabilize mood and improve overall functioning.

Understanding Bipolar and Mood Disorders

  • Bipolar I Disorder: Characterized by manic episodes lasting at least seven days, or by manic symptoms so severe that immediate hospital care is needed, usually followed by depressive episodes.
  • Bipolar II Disorder: A pattern of depressive episodes and hypomanic episodes, but not the full-blown manic episodes that are typical of Bipolar I Disorder.
  • Cyclothymic Disorder: Periods of hypomanic symptoms as well as periods of depressive symptoms lasting for at least two years (one year in children and adolescents), but the symptoms do not meet the diagnostic requirements for a hypomanic episode and a depressive episode.
  • Mood Disorder Due to a Medical Condition: Mood disturbances directly related to the physiological effects of a medical condition.

Symptoms and Challenges

  • Manic Symptoms: Elevated mood, increased activity, rapid speech, inflated self-esteem, and decreased need for sleep.
  • Depressive Symptoms: Sadness, hopelessness, loss of interest in activities, changes in appetite and sleep, and fatigue.
  • Mood Swings: Rapid and severe shifts in mood that can affect daily functioning and relationships.
  • Impulsivity: Engaging in risky behaviors during manic episodes.

Our Approach

  • Comprehensive Assessment: Detailed evaluations to diagnose and understand the specific type of mood disorder.
  • Medication Management: Prescribing mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, and antidepressants to manage symptoms.
  • Therapy: Utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and family-focused therapy to help manage mood swings and improve functioning.
  • Psychoeducation: Educating clients and their families about the disorder, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms.
  • Holistic Care: Incorporating lifestyle changes, such as regular exercise, sleep hygiene, and stress management techniques.

Benefits of Treatment

  • Mood Stabilization: Reduction in the frequency and severity of mood swings.
  • Improved Functioning: Enhanced ability to maintain relationships, perform at work, and manage daily responsibilities.
  • Better Coping Skills: Development of effective strategies to manage mood swings and stress.
  • Enhanced Quality of Life: Overall improvement in mental health and emotional well-being.
